Erik Bethel

Erik Bethel is a seasoned global finance professional with extensive experience across the public and private sectors, particularly in emerging markets. He was unanimously confirmed by the U.S. Senate to serve as the United States representative to the World Bank, where he participated in the deployment of over $100 billion in development capital through loans, grants, equity, and financial instruments. In 2020, he was nominated to serve as U.S. Ambassador to Panama.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Bethel held senior roles at Franklin Templeton, SinoLatin Capital, and ChinaVest, executing private equity transactions across Latin America and China. He also worked at J.P. Morgan and Morgan Stanley in New York and Mexico City, focusing on investment banking and private equity in emerging markets.
