What is the single most important thing in life for you?
The most important thing is my wife and three children.
What are your favourite hobbies?
It’s all about variety for me, I enjoy the outdoors with hiking, canoeing and mountain biking. But I am also a bit of a geek with 3d printing, retro gaming and home automation. Just to round it off nicely I enjoy travelling but I am also a dab hand at carpentry.
How would you describe a perfect investment?
I get excited by companies with the potential to re-engineer the financial services market and transform how these markets work. The perfect investment is identifying a company at the right growth inflexion point. Typically, a proven management team that have already identified product market fit. My sweet spot is providing the new investment that can help to accelerate growth further and then guiding it to ultimate exit via IPO or strategic acquisition.
How did your background prepare you for a role at Apis?
Part of what stands out to me is the breadth of experience I have had across the financial services industry. Starting out as a strategy consultant covering the life assurance and general insurance markets. I then spent a number of years with Barclays covering retail and commercial banking in emerging markets. This is complimented with my time at Merrill lynch covering the wealth and global markets businesses.
