Prior to joining Apis, Esme worked in M&A origination and execution at portfolio company Teya (formerly SaltPay). Prior to this she worked in Private Equity at 3i for close to 2 years focusing on transaction execution and portfolio management in the European Infrastructure space. Esme began her career in Investment Banking at Deutsche Bank, where she covered European Infrastructure & Utilities M&A transactions for over 2 years.
Esme graduated with first-class honours from the University of Oxford with a degree in Economics and Management.

A bit of everything really, I enjoy trying new things as often as possible, and especially anything that keeps me active. I recently started gymnastics again after a 10-year+ break from training competitively, which has shown me that you are never too old to push your own limits, or to be youthful!
I think here is the strongest potential for social value creation. Since the technological infrastructure of these economies is still quite malleable, there is the greatest opportunity to shape the path of the companies underlying these markets in ways to maximise utility for their individuals.
I have not yet been to South America although I have always dreamed of going. The trip of a lifetime for me would be to visit as many countries as possible (although realistically in multiple trips); I have always admired the richness yet diversity of cultures and vibrancy of cities across this region.
Coming from a more infrastructure-focused investment background, a strong forward-looking competitive moat is always the first thing I would seek to establish, regardless of historical growth rates. Additionally, a strong investment thesis underpinned by strong management, defensible margins and favourable underlying markets.
