Tyme Group Named in TIME’s 100 Most Influential Companies of 2025

Global recognition affirms Tyme’s mission to serve entire populations and unlock human potential through digital banking.

Singapore, 26 June 2025 – Tyme Group, a multi-country digital banking group operating across South Africa, the Philippines, and Indonesia, has made it onto TIME’s 2025 list of the 100 Most Influential Companies in the World. The list honours organisations that are making an extraordinary global impact through bold innovation and transformative scale.

This year’s list places Tyme Group among a prestigious group of past honourees such as Apple, Microsoft, Nubank, OpenAI, Moderna, Patagonia, and TikTok, highlighting Tyme’s emergence as a retail banking leader with a mission to serve entire national populations — not just the wealthy or urban elite.

“We are grateful for this recognition,” said Coen Jonker, CEO and Co-Founder of Tyme Group. “At Tyme, we believe that great retail banking should be available to everyone — not just a privileged few. Our ambition is to become one of the top retail banks in every market we serve, by combining intuitive technology with real-world reach. This acknowledgment from TIME recognises that our model of inclusive, population-scale digital banking can be both commercially powerful and socially transformative.”

Tyme Group currently serves over 17 million customers across its growing portfolio of countries:

  • TymeBank in South Africa has become one of the fastest-growing retail banks on the continent, with over 11 million customers.
  • GoTyme Bank in the Philippines continues to scale rapidly, following the acquisition of salary lender SAVii, with now over 6.5 million customers.
  • Indonesia marks Tyme’s next major growth market, with the Group having launched its merchant lending

platform this year and now actively planning to enter the market with a retail bank.

  • Hong Kong is Tyme’s newest footprint with the receipt of a moneylender’s licence and a new partnership formerchant lending will be announced this month.

The company reached unicorn status in late 2024 following a US$250 million Series D capital raise led by Latin America’s Nubank. Tyme is now backed by a global coalition of investors including Nubank, Tencent, British International Investment, African Rainbow Capital (ARC), Apis, M & G Catalyst, among other leading impact investors.

“Being named one of the 100 most influential companies in the world list isn’t just recognition of our business model,” said TymeBank CEO Karl Westwig, “It reflects our broader mission to create banking platforms that help people realise their ambitions, whether that means growing a business, supporting a family, or simply managing their money with confidence. We’re building banks that work for everyone, and that vision is resonating across continents.”
