Apis appoints Adam Battersby and Theofilos Kotridis as Partners to lead European and U.S. investments

London, 25th January 2022 – Global financial services private equity asset manager Apis Partners LLP today announced the hire of two new Partners to the Apis Group (“Apis”), who will broaden the group’s investment coverage. Adam Battersby and Theofilos Kotridis will be based in the Apis’ London office and will focus on investment opportunities in Europe and the United States.

Apis Partners was co-founded by Matteo Stefanel and Udayan Goyal in 2014. The firm invests in growth stage financial services and financial infrastructure businesses and has a strong focus on the sustainability and societal impact of its investments in sector-leading companies. Apis manages or advises on total committed capital from investors (including drawn and invested capital) of US$1.2 billion. Adam and Theofilos join Apis from TechFin Investments, a growth investor focused on investments in series B and above fundraising rounds, which the pair co-founded after leaving Bank of America and Credit Suisse Principal Investments teams, respectively.

Adam is a highly successful investor with more than 18 years of experience investing into EMEA, US and APAC. His track record includes over 35 investments within key areas of fintech including payments, blockchain and artificial intelligence. Adam led Bank of America Merrill Lynch’s Global Principal Investments portfolio, with a focus on financial technology private equity investments. There he had a global mandate focused on strategic investments across financials, technology companies and key fintech Investment trends. As Co-Chair of the Global Investment Committee, he oversaw all new investments and a portfolio of over US$2 billion, comprising 45+ fintech companies. Adam holds an MA in Economics from the University of Cambridge.

Theofilos has 20 years of experience in private equity and investment banking and was instrumental at TechFin in leading the brand and team, in addition to sourcing and leading deal execution across the strategy. Prior to TechFin, he was the Global Head of Strategic Principal Investments for Global Markets at Credit Suisse, the bank’s private equity group, focusing on a broad spectrum of financial technology companies. Over the years he ran a portfolio of over 25 companies with more than US$1 billion in assets. Theofilos has also been an external advisor to CVC, the private equity group, advising them on market infrastructure transactions. In addition, he was the Chief Investment Officer of Delta Capita, an owner and operator of capital markets infrastructure. In the past, Theofilos was an M&A banker at Credit Suisse covering TMT and in particular technology for financial institutions and systemic financial infrastructure. He holds an MSc in Enterprise Information Systems and a BSc in Computer Science.
